:-) Glad you guys didn’t get the shitters with me for my shutter typos… As requested the ‘long hand’ version of my “requests to pass on to your (Nikon) Lady Friend”…

1 There is a function called exposure delay (Config menu d8). When set, when you press the release, the mirror goes up, there is a once second delay and then the shutter fires. i.e. an automatic “timed” Mirror Lock Up (MLU!). REQUEST> Would be great if you could set the time delay of this – or alternatively set a timed release option in the Mirror Lock Up (MLU!) function

2 the Mirror Lock Up (MLU!) function requires one release for mirror lift, a second for shutter release. When shooting a bracket, this sequence needs to be repeat for each shot in the bracket. REQUEST> Why not have it lift the mirror – and while the mirror remains up, take the bracket… A whole lot less fuss and vibration

3 With the Canons, when you use the timer delay, and you have set up bracketing, it takes ALL the shots. REQUEST> Why not an option for this on the D3…

Yeah, yeah, probably useless to ask. But I FEEL better. And if any of these features ever appear then we can all feel we made a difference. he he.

Loved the show – don’t let listener wowsers put you off your game; keep it loose!

..could not resist noting that with a decent 35mm SLR / great lenses, I cannot really see why you need medium format – for landscapes. Stitching photos delivers pixel perfect results, so if you have taken care with exposures, parallax (if an issue) and all the rest of the basics, you really cannot see the difference… (I recognise this is not the case for live models etc..)

…on the “Hate Dynamic Rubbish” debate; I surely sympathise with the negativity on the unsubtle stuff appearing. As you all say, its novelty will date. I would however have countered that there are places where subtle use of HDR enables images otherwise impossible in high contrast environments. I have however changed my mind with the D3. I am able to pull lots of highlight and shadow detail out of the RAW files that in most cases delivers a better outcome than the Photomatix HDR route. So the “way of the future” may just be better sensors… (Not bracketing!)

    cheers
