This episode of PhotoGeek’s weekly audio podcast was recorded once again in the offices of Big Trousers.
Michael has relaxed a bit after data retrieval via Data Rescue 11 software recovered his lost files.
Hosts include Phil Greenwood, Cameron Stephen and Michael Griffin.

Cameron Stephen talks about his big win in the local photographic show. “Legs on a slide” won $100 in the performing and visual arts in Emerald.

We talk again about backup following the Griffin data loss discussing a little about what we all do.

Cameron and Phil discuss the pitfalls in updating WordPress to version 2.5 and the server backup systems on some webservers.

We mention the Pystar Open Pro and Open PC and point out the visual diference and the specific technical differences like bluetooth and 80211n WIFI.

The Mac Mini as a Media centre and our collective longing for an Apple supplied Blu Ray player and more importantly software that will play Blue Ray discs. Sony now make a sub $300 BlueRay drive. We speculate that Apple TV may come with Blu Ray.
Elgato devices could be useful with this device.

The Nullriver MediaLink seems not to work as described but does show a limit to a system that includes both AppleTV and a Playstation PS3.

Don’t get too excited about the Psystar machines yet, past the fancy website they don’t seem to exist…….

Take all your comments on the HD dock and it applies also to the IcyDock MB664 I previously mentioned – no USB hub BUT FireWire or eSATA as well as USB 2 – and a nice enclosure from which the drives can be easily removed by hand…. …have 3 of them and v pleased!

    keep up the good work

ps how about a segment on geo-tagging pics? Cameras that do it, addons, software (flickr / google earth etc).
